THE RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF MECHANICS AND APPLIED MATHEMATICS was established in 1971. Its staff consisting of 370 members includes 4 Doctors of Science and 70 Candidates of Science.
Research is done in the following main directions:
- mechanics of deformed solid, strength and destruction:
- mathematical problems of mechanics of continuous media;
- mathematical models of thin-wall constructions;
- creation of new construction materials out of Industrial wastes and resource saving technologies of load-carrying shell-type construction erection;
- calculation, technology and application of new piezoactlve composite materials in ultrasonic devices;
- development of new types of energy saturated gear transmission and reductors.
าอล RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF PHYSICS was founded in 1970 and employs 460 researchers including 17 Doctors of Science and 126 Candfdates of Science. The main directions of research are as follows:
- creation and small-lot production of medical equipment for ultrasonic diagnostics, therapy and surgery;
- creation and using of highly effective segneto-piezoelectric transformers for different purposes;
- creation and using of lazers on metal gasses;
- working out methods for sounding the earthly Ionosphere;
- creation and using of active and passive super-high-frequency equipment;
- theoretical and experimental studies in the physics of the condensed state of matter;.
- phase transfers and cristal phenomena, structure and physical characterlstfcs, electronic structure;
- problems of high temperature superconductivity.
- theoretical and experimental studies in the field of science of materials;
- theoretical and experimental studies, interaction of radiation and matter;
- theoretical studies of astrophysics and cosmology, the physics of circumter-restrlal space.
THE RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF BIOLOGY was founded in 1936. Of the Institute's 120 researchers 7 are Doctors of Science and 37 are Candidates of Science.
The main directions of research are:
- introduction and acclimatization of plants, problems of ecology and anthropogenic dinamics In biological systems;
- working out biochemical and biophysical methods for appraising the organism's conditions and forecasting individual sensitivity towards extreme factors in the environment.
- working out a somatic hybridization method for obtaining plastid chrolophyllic and stress-resistant mutations of higher plants and their inprovement through selection;
- rational utilization and ways of increasing the productivity of natural resources with the aim of using them more effectively in national economy.
